Here I am one week to the day before Josh I are to be married. How life brings such surprises! I can't wait for the new adventure's and changes my life is about to take. If someone would have told me a year ago that I would have been married in a year I would have laughed. But I am sooo happy I am! I know....if you are reading this you are shacking your head and either one - remembering when you were about to be married and how wonderful it was or how naive I am or two you are gaging at how in love I am and how I am rambling on about how great my life is.
Well I have really been thinking a lot lately about life and the different things we go through. If it be graduating from high school or college, getting married, playing the single social card and the different trials, tribulations, problems, or whatever we may call them that we go through. As I have thought about this I really have come to the conclusion that life really is what we make it! Sure we may have family, money, personal problems we may even get in a car accident and lose a leg, I am not saying it is easy but I am saying we either bury ourselves with the problems or we can fight through the dirt and rise and shine with the sunlight and be our best. As we shine we can't but help get a little "light" on other people. That is what this life is all about! So I may be a little optimistic tonight and that may be due to that I just watched the Pursuit of Happyness, but that is how it is and that is how I feel.
So other life travels brings me to share my trip to D.C.
In April I had the opportunity to go to D.C. for a work conference. It was the National Association for After School Programs. Yes many of you are thinking they have that stuff of after school programs, well yes they do. After School Programming is a huge thing!
Anyhow. I was able to go with Tara from work which made it even ten times more fun. Pretty much Monday - Wednesday we were in conferences and such. Tuesday we went to Capitol hill and meet with the senators and reps from Utah. We were also part of a rally. It was all a really good experience for me. We had some fun adventures on the metro, bus, and taxi trying to get back to our hotel. Speaking of our hotel we stayed at the Gaylord National Resort where the conference was being held. It was a fancy hotel, it was nice and all but soooo expensive, and no perks for free like at the cheap hotels. I would totally rather stay at a cheaper hotel just for the continental breakfast. So overall the conference was good. The trip was planned back in October before I was real serious with Josh. I didn't realize how hard it would be to leave him.
So after the conference I was able to stay an extra four days and hang out with Erin and Taci. It was really fun to see the both of them. Friday they both had to work so I didn't have anything to do so I decided to go to the Washington D.C. temple. It was so amazing and so wonderful to be able to spend a whole day in the temple. I didn't have to hurry, didn't have anyone else with me waiting on me or anything, it was so great! It is such a beautiful temple.
So Saturday Taci and I wanted to do something different. We both have been to the down town and seen all the monuments and such. So we decided to go to Gettysburg. It was so amazing! I loved it! We spent all day there. We first went to the museum and a movie then we drove around with an auto car tour, which was great! It is amazing how for being such a place where terrible fighting and war went on it is such a peaceful and beautiful place. Then on Sunday I flew back to Utah, it was a good vacation/conference, but I was sooo ready to be home and to be back with Josh.
The next of life's travels will be me telling you how I am married and reporting back about our honeymoon to San Diego. Til' then!
